This year's Forth Valley Art Beat is taking place all across the area and Thornhill has a vibrant community of artists. Here at  West Moss-side Organic Farm and Centre we have eight artists with work on display. There are  main artists (artists 29 -32)  together with four artists in the West Moss-side Collective. All in a beautiful location.

There is new work from all the regular artists -Darren Rees,  award-winning wildlife artist from Thornhill will transport you  across the planet and you will encounter penguins, bears, wolves and landscapes to dream about.

Graham Tristram has a new studio in the farmhouse which will be open for the first time his work is inspired by landscapes near and far and there is always distance, atmosphere, light and patterns which emerge from his canvases. New for this year is a 2017 Calander with 12 beautifiul months to enjoy his work.

Charmian Pollok from Strathard will bring her own very special interpretation of the natural world around her this year the West Moss-side frog will make an appearance she works with handmade paper and found objects.

Another aspect of the natural world of colours and repeating patterns and of the lithe shapes of animals and birds will be presented in the jewellery and silversmithing of Gillie Welstead from Thornhill.

And there is more - The West Moss-side Collective will surprise you with drawings and prints  by Jill Dow from Thornhill, willow and mixed media pieces including some boats, I suspect,  by Georgia Crook from Lawers on Loch Tayside, new work in paper to intrigue and inspire by Jo McDonald from Edinburgh and a collection of pieces created from material collected from Flanders Moss and the farm by Kate Sankey.

Outside in the yard there will be a Barn Happening again this year. Scottish Natural Heritage will bring the Moss to West Moss-side, showing how once Flanders Moss would have been the one-stop shop for materials to create useful and beautiful things for the farm and the home.  Drop in on both weekends Saturday and Sunday 1.00-4.00pm to find out how and try for yourself.
