TROSSACHS OPEN STUDIOS Launch event 1st -3rd October
IEndlessly Inspiring Trossachs It's no secret that the Trossachs area has been inspiring artists, writers and musicians for centuries. From Sir Walter Scott to John Ruskin, the rugged and unspoilt beauty of the lochs and glens has captivated people around the world. What might be news to you though is that, for the first time, there is now a network of 'Trossachs Open Studios'. TrossachsOpen Studios is an exciting initiative created by the artists and makers living and working in the Trossachs area. It will involve a year round brochure and website with details of many exciting artists and makers. To mark the beginning of this exciting project, the group are holding a launch event over the first weekend of October. This event on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October will see 21 studios and galleries open from 10am – 5pm each day. In the studios you will find a variety of artwork including painting, sculpture, photography, stained glass, woodwork, ceramics, jewellery, metalwork and much more. The open studios stretch from Glen Dochart in the north to Croftamie in the south, and West Moss-side will feature work by Darren Rees, Charmian Pollok and Kate Sankey. More great news is that on the first weekend of October Callander plays host to the annual Jazz and Blues Festival featuring local, national, and international musicians playing live for your entertainment. The weekend follows on from ScottsLand, honouring Sir Walter Scott, and the celebrating the language of the landscape with events which started June and runs right to the end of September. |
