West Moss-side Organic Farm and Centre nr Stirling Scotland

Christmas is coming

Winter is here … but Christmas is around the corner … The Christmas tree has been cut from the bog (a self seeded Lodge Pole Pine in the wrong place!) and is decorated with all sorts of festive things including reindeer, camels and garlands made from West Moss-side soft rush.

I hope your Christmas planning, shopping and making is going well! But just in case you were thinking about an unusually creative gift to give to a friend or someone specially close … why not consider giving a gift voucher for a workshop at West Moss-side.

This is from last year's Christmas tree collection event at Flanders Moss NNR.  more than 200 rogue self sown lodge pole pine trees were cut from the moss.

and here are the three wise camels making their way to the tree!

With thoughts turning to Christmas and the final workshop weekends past.  We had a wionderful time making fantastic Christmas decorations with willow and rush and also lovely creations with Bryce reynard from birch bark and all other parts of the birch tree. Both courses were over subscribed and I think I have persauded Bryce to come and do a second workshop in the summer - so look out for the date and let me know whether you are interested and i'll put you on a reserved list!

So a workshop here at West Moss-side comes highly recommended  …. For bringing you inspiration, for surprising you with your skills, for helping you to completely switch off and to relax, for a thoroughly enjoyable day with new friends and to take home something special.

The lunch is delicious too and the West Moss-side home-baking brilliant (so everybody tells me!).

Vouchers are custom made –  Either for a particular day workshop or weekend workshop or for one workshop day or for two workshop days of your choice - and must be used in 2010.

There are lots of workshops to chose from – so why not go and visit the course schedule

Hurry –  the last posting date for Christmas is soon ! But I could always send you an email with a gift voucher as a pdf.  You can print it out! The cost is £65.00 (inc VAT) per workshop day. Cheque to West Moss-side please.

Also I have fantastic Organic Shetland Beef – so why not try a topside or a silverside roast (as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall did with his Devon Red). Come down to the farm to collect – next weekend or weekday evenings.  Please call to confirm…

Finally ..... another winter thrill here is seeing the hen harriers come in to roost.  We have a monthly hen harrier count on Flanders Moss and this beautiful painting called Coming in to Roost is by Darren Rees and is particularly special to me as it is over West Moss-side and with Ben Lomond in the distance. Darren is offering another painting and drawing workshop in May 2010

Wishing you a very happy Christmas and joyous New Year
