For many years Lynn has been known as The Bag Lady, making packaging out of textiles (usually bags....) for High Street stores such as Marks and Spencer and Harrods. Since starting to make felt, many projects have persuaded themselves into bag forms - starting as a wall hanging perhaps and ending as a tote bag! Lynn is a member of a Group called 'A Girl Can Never Have Too Many Handbags' which celebrates the diversity and ingenuity of bag making. Over time and having explored new techniques with great tutors and colleagues, her work has developed into accessories and clothing. Her work gravitates towards the useful and colour is combined with the organic shapes of natural silk fibres and other woollen textured locks and yarns to create flattering things to wear and use.
Lynn has a City and Guilds Part 2 in Feltmaking (and is currently involved in the study for Part 3) as well as a BA, a Teaching Certificate and further City and Guilds in Tailoring and Professional Cookery. She studied Art and Design as part of her Teaching Certificate. Her work has been exhibited and sold in many parts of the world including USA, Europe, Mongolia, the Caribbean and Australia. She gives talks on her visits to Hungary and Mongolia, demonstrates and talks about felt and feltmaking as well as teaching classes in the art of wet feltmaking, seamless feltmaking using a resist and nuno felt techniques using fine fabrics and silk.
