Last of the summer sunshine - creative autumn ahead

News from West Moss-side... Autumn workshops to.. BOOK NOW

I hope you are enjoying the last of the summer sunshine Ė itís very welcome here after all the rain of August!

Here at West Moss-side the final broods of swallows are being reared ready for the off! One pair has reared three broods! Ė well almost - they better hurry up and get some flying practice in!  It's soon time to wish the swallows bon voyage for their trip to Africa and say welcome to the Pink Footed Geese down from Scandinavia and Iceland.

The hay has been made and is all away up north and west. The haylage is also made and the black bales stacked in the field ready for feeding my Shetland cattle over the winter. A fine Shetland bull has arrived (Knocknagael Ally) - a reminder that the seasons are moving on once again.  Iíve been busy harvesting field rush this week ready for autumn and winter weaving and it won't be long before the willow will be harvested  - I have quite a few projects in primary schools this winter building willow igloos and tunnels and things - and then there are all the ones to be maintained too.
The Centre starts the series of autumn workshops this weekend with Traditional Willow Basket making. If youíve missed this one then please let me know and Iíll make sure you are booked on the next which will be in the Spring 2010.

You are not too late for some of the workshops so why not think about joining us for some creative autumn events Ė or what about a present for a special event?  I won't mention the C - word but what about making some of your presents this year - Charlotte and Saskia's felting workshops are ideal for creating lots of beautiful things.
