| Title |
Mixed Media Felt with Jeanette Sendler |
| Description |
Working
with boxes, drawers, frames or even the remnants of an old chair, we will
create felted objects, mini sculptures and textural surfaces to be framed or
contained by these items.
Many
artists are inspired by nature; organic driftwood, stones, rusty artefacts……but
why not look also to everyday domestic objects where we discover beautiful
shapes and forms in wooden spoons, darning mushrooms or small domestic
containers.
Playfully
you will be taught textural as well as three dimensional feltmaking, with the
focus on a personal narrative. This will be inspired by the objects you choose.
In the morning
you will experiment with a variety of felting techniques and the afternoon will
be dedicated to developing these techniques and arranging your felted pieces
alongside your domestic objects.
This
exercise may well open up a journey which will stretch well beyond a one day
workshop.

About the tutor
|
I was introduced to Jeanette through an exhibition at the Collins Gallery in Glasgow .... I was fascinated by her textual felt which reflected the natural world and a few days later visited her in her studio - I returned with two pieces. One Reflections on Peat is 'at home' in the centre. The other graces my house and I enjoy every day. I was so pleased when she agreed to come to West Moss-side to teach. It is great to have her at West Moss-side to pass on her skills. (Kate Sankey)

After completing this course... |
You will take home a unique piece of mixed media textural felt and have an
