Course Details - Hands, Heads and Hearts Knitting

New for 2014. Learn to knit or improve your knitting skills with Jo Allport, Knitwear Designer at Yarn Tree Designs. You’ll choose a knitting project from a selection of Scottish themed designs, which use a variety of yarns and materials, mostly made in Scotland. All materials used are included. Each project is designed to be completed in the workshop day and the patterns are only available to workshop attendees.

Title Hands, Heads and Hearts Knitting with Jo Allport

It will be a full day!

A fun morning learning new techniques, which Jo will demonstrate.  We will cover casting on and off, and basic stitches for beginners; fairisle, slipped stitch patterning and cables for improvers.

You will then have time to practice your skills and choose your project.  After lunch, you will work on your chosen project.

You may take a break at any time.  Have a coffee, explore the world of textiles through books and talks, or just relax around the wood burning stove in the hayloft studio.
About the tutor

Jo Allport is new to West Moss-side in 2014 - it is always wonderful to find new creative artists to come and share their passion.  Jo started Yarn Tree Designs to fulfill a lifelong ambition to create a knitwear design company.  She produces many commercial hand knit patterns, based on her unique style and inspired designs. Collections take their inspiration from Scotland's rich heritage and natural landscape.  All her designs have influences from both traditional Scottish garments and from Scottish knitting techniques.

In the last year, she has written a book which uses the lovely Noro yarn and is called “What can I knit tonight”.  This covers smaller projects which can be knitted in one evening, one day or one weekend. She has also produced a kids learn to knit book.

She runs workshops where beginners and improvers are encouraged to develop both their knitting skills and a lifelong love of yarn.
