Something to take your basket making one stage further... different weaves different designs, different textures. This is a new workshop by basket maker and textural artist Georgia Crook.

Description

This 2-day workshop will introduce you to the beauty of weaves. You will make one completed basket but you will have an opportunity to experiment with different weaves.

About the tutor
Georgia Crook
Georgia uses wild materials found around her home to make her inventive and unusual baskets. She has had work shown in galleries and exhibitions all over the British Isles and in Europe, and has a piece of work in the permanent collection of the National Museums of Scotland...

Prerequisite knowledge/skills
This workshop is suitable to all with a little basketry experience. Especially for those who would like to extend the design options in making a basket or a vessel.
Course format

Over the two days there will be sessions on the different weaves. Georgia will demonstrate and there will be time to practice and share problems under her expert guidance.

After completing this course...
As well as having your own beautiful baskets to take home, you will know how to go about making baskets yourself. Follow up sessions can be arranged with Kate Sankey to re-inforce your learning.

What should I bring with me?

A notebook and a camera!  All tools will be provided. But bring a pair of secateurs and a Stanley knife or similar if you have them. If you have something special you wish to weave into your basket bring it along and we will try to incorporate it.
