Course Details - Felt Jewellery

This is one of three workshops using different felting techniques. This workshop will cover 3-D, wet and dry felting techniques to make ..baubles, bangles and bright shiny things. This is a workshop where you can create pieces of unique jewellery - there is no limit - bracelets, brooches, ear-rings, corsage, hair adornments all combining felt techniques with recycling - natural or synthetic!


ABOUT THE COURSE
 
Title Felt Jewellery with Charlotte Haines
Description The workshop will use different felting techniques including wet felting and needle felting. To create exquisite pieces of jewellery you will experiment with techniques of construction, to make pieces such as necklaces, earrings, and bangles. Using beads and some recycling techniques you will learn how to incorporate them into the items of jewellery being made.
About the tutor
It is great to have Charlotte Haines tutoring here at West Moss-side. She  will be working together with Saskia Gavin in a series of three felt workshops introducing different felting techniques.  Charlotte Haines and Saskia Gavin are two felt and fibre artists from Edinburgh.  (Kate Sankey)

Prerequisite knowledge/skills
No previous felting knowledge is required for this workshop just enthusiasm and a willingness to experiment, create and play.
Course format
The work shop will be divided into sections, learning a number of different techniques from a series of demonstrations, the morning will be dedicated to wet felting and in the afternoon to dry felting, constructing and turning the felt pieces into jewellery and objects of beauty.
After completing this course...
The workshop is aimed at beginners as well as more experienced felt makers. So for beginners you will gain an understanding of how felt is made, and make jewellery of your choice. More experienced felt makers will be able to explore different techniques used to make felt jewellery incorporating recycling and will follow through a design process.

What should I bring with me?

All felting wool, beads and tools will be provided. Findings and fastenings will be available at a small charge. Please bring any beads or broken pieces of jewellery you want to incorporate.
