Course Details - Felt Vessels and the 3D

This is one of two special workshops for 2014. It is a pleasure to welcome Jeanette Sendler and Alison Mountain to West Moss-side. This one is a day of creating 3D pieces - vessels which incorporate materials to enhance shape and form.

ABOUT THE COURSE

Title Felt Vessels and the 3D with Jeanette Sendler
Description

On this one day workshop we will explore a range of three dimensional shapes which we can adapt to work in felt which is a fluid and sculptural medium.

Inspired by ceramic shapes and forms we will experiment with the potential that the fibres offer, taking into account the weight and stability of the medium for its purpose.

We will look also at surface design and edges, and incorporate a range of plant and animal fibres and fabrics to add texture and pattern to the exterior and interior of the finished vessel.

About the tutor
I was introduced to Jeanette through an exhibition at the Collins Gallery in Glasgow .... I was fascinated by her textual felt which reflected the natural world and a few days later visited her in her studio - I returned with two pieces. One Reflections on Peat  is 'at home' in the centre. The other graces my house and I enjoy every day. I was so pleased when she agreed to come to West Moss-side to teach. It is great to have her at West Moss-side to pass on her skills. (Kate Sankey)
