Course Details - Small Frame basket

This is a new and special opportunity to work with Georgia on a one day workshop. To make a little frame basket just big enough for half a dozen eggs. - Georgia is the author of the well used book Basket Making. She has developed the techniques of combining different materials into her baskets, so it is really fantastic that she has agreed to share some of her knowledge here at West Moss-side.

Description

This one day workshop will introduce you to the technique of frame basket work. Using mainly willow with the opportunity of encorporating some hedgerow material  you will learn how to construct the ribs of the frame, weave between the ribs to create the basket and put on a little handle.

About the tutor
Georgia Crook
Georgia uses wild materials found around her home to make her inventive and unusual baskets. She has had work shown in galleries and exhibitions all over the British Isles and in Europe, and has a piece of work in the permanent collection of the National Museums of Scotland...

No previous skills are required to come on this workshop.

Course format

Georgia will demonstrate all the stages of making the frame basket and you will have time to practice during the day.

After completing this course...
 You will have a little egg basket - for collecting and storing your eggs.

What should I bring with me?
Participants could bring some of their own material /ideas and we could discuss how to go about incorporating it into their piece. Georgia will bring some samples of her own work along for ideas for those who would like a little more direction.   You will need a notebook.  Don't forget your camera too!
