| Title |
Mini Irish Creels with Geoff Forrest |
| Description |
This is a great opportunity to make an Irish Creel - but one which will fit in your home and be really useful for storing all sorts - it's just right for an A4 file, magazines, telephone directories, books, vegetables, or kindling. The simplicity, beauty and strength of the knotting techniques used to secure the top (yes it's actually the bottom of your basket) and the top knot - that's at the top of your work but is the bottom of the finished basket are truly brilliant !! Got it? Well it is Irish. This was the traditional method for making baskets for carrying on your back (all the pictures show women carrying them), or for putting across the back of a pony as panniers. The Traditional Irish Creel workshop with Catherine Davies and Pascal Carr make full size creels but this is smaller and so uses smaller material which you will find easier to start with. |
