| Title |
Willow Log Baskets with Pascal Carr |
| Description |
Using larger material, this 2-day workshop will enable you to practice the basic techniques to make a large and strong log basket. You will learn a new way of making the base. Known as an 'underfoot' base this adds strength since you do not split the base sticks. You will also learn how to put a 'foot' onto the final basket - this is essential for a basket which will be used for carrying and holding logs - it provides a 'rim' for the basket to sit on and will ensure that the basket lasts for a very long time. Of course a log basket needs handles so you will also learn how to twist the willow and form a twisted handle. As well there will be opportunities to practices the various weaving elements in the basket, including a Fench Randing and a false wale and so re-fresh your knowledge of traditional willow basket making. |
