Its been sitting there for ages waiting for... waiting for Susie Bishop! This is a unique opportunity to learn how to restore rush seating from a master. An immensely practical 2-day workshop with the prospect of taking home more than just a head full of ideas!

ABOUT THE COURSE

Title Rush Seating Weekend with Susie Bishop
Description
A weekend workshop in rush chair seating with Susie Bishop. We suggest that you might like to start with a stool - always a welcome addition to the sitting room for those evenings where you just want to put your feet up! Or if you are like me - stack high with the weekend newspapers!  If you have a small and simple chair needing restoring this should be possible too.

So bring along your own chair for rush seating or a stool kit will be provided for an introduction to rush seating.

Which ever you choose please contact Susie beforehand to let her know and discuss your needs.
About the tutor
Susie's work is wonderful.  The patterns are beautifully intricate yet with simple elegance and symmetry.   Just imagine sitting on a chair that you have restored to its original glory!  She is also teaching Rushwork in 2012.  Don't miss this new course. (Kate Sankey)

What should I bring with me?

Chair frame with rush seat.   If it needs repairing, painting or polishing this will have to be done before the course, as it is difficult to do afterwards. (Check with Susie re advice on removing rush). If you have a rush chair which needs re-doing bring it along OR you can use a stool kit. Please bring, if you have them: craft or Stanley knife, ruler, sponge or J-cloth in old margarine tub or similar, sidecutters or long- handled toenail cutters.  Other tools wil be available to borrow or buy.

IMPORTANT: Please contact Susie to let her know whether you would like to do a rush stool or if you want to restore an old chair.  Please remember that the chair should be small and as square as possible otherwise you will struggle and the longer it will take!!
