| Title |
Traditional Willow Baskets with Georgia Crook |
| Description |
This 2-day workshop will introduce you to the basic techniques for
making traditional willow baskets. You will make one completed basket and
there will be time to practice the different elements a basket; the
base, weaving techniques and the border. |
About the tutor
|
Georgia uses wild materials found around her home to make her inventive
and unusual baskets. She has had work shown in galleries and
exhibitions all over the British Isles and in Europe, and has a piece
of work in the permanent collection of the National Museums of Scotland...
We're very lucky indeed to have her here. (Kate Sankey)
You can find a more comprehensive bio here. |
Prerequisite knowledge/skills |
This is an introduction for those who would like to learn the basic
techniques of traditional basketry; no previous skills are required to
come on this workshop. |
Course format |
Over the two days there will be sessions on the different techniques
associated with each element of a basket. Georgia will demonstrate
and there will be time to practice and share problems under her expert
guidance. |
After completing this course... |
As well as having your own beautiful baskets to take home, you will
know how to go about making baskets yourself. You will probably have several bases made so you can take some willow home to work on. Follow up sessions can be arranged with Kate Sankey to re-inforce your learning. |
